George Waner

George Wilfred Waner, 89, died Thursday at Mercy Regional Hospital in Junction City. He was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Florence to Andrew and Francis (Garrison) Waner.

He was retired from the Army and from teaching. He married Wanda L. Haviland on Aug. 14, 1949.

He was preceded in death by a son, James R. Waner; three brothers, John, Paul, and Bob Waner; and two sisters, Ruth Garland and Dorothy Hoffman.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; and three children, Kenneth and Andrew Waner and Teresa Dekoter.

Visitation and Rosary were Monday at St. Xavier Catholic Church, Junction City. Funeral Mass was Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Florence. Interment with military rites was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Florence.

Memorial funds have been established with Junction City Food Pantry and Marion County Emergency Food Bank.
