Gerald Megenity

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Megenity, 64, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Jan. 27, 2012, at Bay Pines VA Health care Center in Bay Pins, Fla.

He was born Dec. 18, 1947, to Francis Sweeney and M. Irene (Ramsey) Megenity in Salina.

He was a carepenter with the VA hospital in Bay Pines. He served in U.S. Army as a specialist fourth class during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He graduated from Salina High School in 1966.

He is survived by a son, Francis “Frank” Megenity of Pennsylvania; his father, Francis Megenity of Barnes; a sister, Vicky Megenity Jones of Blair, Neb.; and a brother, Richard Megenity of Herington.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Megenity, in 1998; a brother, William “Bill” Megenity, in 1986; and two sisters, Judy Kaye Megenity in 1964 and Janie Robertson in 1976.

A graveside service was Saturday at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating, full military honors concluding. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel, was in charge of local arrangements.
