Girls team
overwhelmed

After taking third at the state tournament in Hillsboro the girls 16 and under Babe Ruth All-star team traveled to Lamar, Colorado for regional play Thursday through Saturday.

The all-stars’ first three games were run-rule shortened losses. They scored eight runs in their last game against Conway Springs, a 15-8 loss.

Although the team lost all the games they played, head coach Erin Carr said that it was a good learning experience for players.

“The other teams’ pitching was phenomenal,” Carr said. “The girls weren’t used to that level.”

Carr said teams they played had practiced together much longer than her team.

“Our girls only had two weeks together before the tournament,” she said. “In our last game, we managed to get our bats going. We hit well and fielded the ball well.”
