The Goessel girls basketball team moved to 5-0 with a lopsided road victory for the Bluebirds, as the team sprinted to 45-23 win at Rural Vista.

Aleena Cook, Olivia Duerksen and Page Hiebert all added points to go up 12-1. Rural Vista picked up a few hard-earned points, and Goessel was ahead 22-12 at halftime.

Erin Brubaker began the scoring in the third quarter with a lay-up, Cook banked in a basket, and Brubaker hit a 3-pointer as the Bluebirds led 29-12. Goessel blew open the game, leading 36-17 at the end of three periods, although unable to hit a single free throw. Goessel collected 17 steals for the game. The Bluebirds coasted to a 45-23 win in the first Wheat State League game of the season.
