Shania Ford, 10, of Gonzales, Texas, competed in the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic Games on Aug. 4 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was ranked 48th overall in the 400-meter dash sub-midget division going into the Junior Olympics.

Shania ran a personal best time of 1minute, 6.9 seconds to place second in her heat and 29th overall.

She is the daughter of Eule and Angela Ford and the granddaughter of Laverne and Harriet Bina, Marion, and Eule and Gloria Ford, St. Louis.
