Group warns of grandparent scam

The Better Business Bureau of Kansas alerts consumers about the grandparent scam. The scam involves a person calling an elderly person, posing as their grandchild, and asking for financial assistance to get out of some kind of trouble.

The grandparent is asked to wire money to the supposed grandchild, usually in a foreign country or outside a particular state.

The scammer usually identifies themselves without a name and uses quick, short sentences to keep from being discovered.
