Commissioner Lori Lalouette may have been absent from the commission meeting Monday, but the remaining commissioners announced Monday that Jesse Hamm, who temporarily was filling in for the road and bridge supervisor position, is now the official interim.
“He’s got some things to learn,” Dallke said, “but he’s already got (8 years) with road and bridge.”
Commissioners gave Hamm a corresponding raise which will end when a person takes the position or Hamm leaves the position.
“Once the interim position ends, the pay ends,” Holub said.
Mike Beneke congratulated commissioners on the choice of Hamm.
“I had a couple conversations with Jesse heart-to-heart outside of work,” Beneke said. “I think he will do us a fine job if you give him a chance.”
Beneke also asked commissioners to give Hamm some assistance.
“I think you need to get him some adequate help,” Beneke said, “because he’s stretched too thin at this point.”
Hamm told commissioners that most of the county has already been cleaned up from the Thanksgiving weekend storm; however, Tampa and Lehigh asked road and bridge for assistance.
“Lehigh looks like a bomb hit it,” Hamm said. “It seemed like the further west you go, it got more beat up.”
