Harry Lee Bernhardt, 76, died Nov. 18, 2011, in Wichita.

He was born June 8, 1935, in Westfield, Iowa, where he was raised and attended school.

He married Marlene Passehl on Dec. 10, 1956, in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army in 1956 and 1957.

He worked in construction as a mechanic and heavy machinery operator for many years. In 1965, he and his family moved to Marion.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; a son, Patrick of Marion; two daughters, Cindy Moore and Shelli Hardey, both of Marion; a brother, Edward of Austin, Texas; five sisters, Deanna Bosche of Allentown, N.D., Frances Gebauer of Ireton, Iowa, Alyce Wilkerson of Austin, Texas; Betty Strong of Hawarden, Iowa, Doris Bernhardt of Kentucky; and four grandchildren.

His funeral is at 10:30 a.m. today at Our Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will be at the Marion Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Tuesday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
