Helen Chill

Helen M. Chill, 83, passed away Feb. 23, 2010, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

She was born Sept. 29, 1926, in rural Marion County, the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Vogel) Stenzel. She attended Kreutziger Grade School, District 97. She was a 1943 graduate of Marion High School and attended business classes at Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia.

On Aug. 11, 1946, she married Raymond Pritz. He preceded her in death in 1971.

To this marriage one son, Geoffrey Lin Pritz, was born. He died of pneumonia at the age of 4 months.

She later married Harry Chill on April 30, 1977. He passed away Dec. 26, 1982. She was also preceded by her siblings Ed and Charlie Stenzel and Lenore Zimmerman.

She was a bookkeeper, working at the Marion County Courthouse 15 to 20 years, and later with Ludwig Trucking and several other private businesses. Helen retired in 1989.

She was a private and kind woman who loved animals and fed any cat that wanted to stop by for a meal.

Helen is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation with family present was 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Services were 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Marion Christian Church.

Interment was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial Funds have been established with St. Luke Foundation and Marion Christian Church in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS 66861.
