Sara McDonald and Jared Herzet, both of Shawnee, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

Parents of the couple are Michael and Marilyn McDonald of Garnett and James and Janet Herzet of Marion.

The bride-elect grew up in Garnett, graduating from Anderson County High School in 1994 and Wichita State University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in human resources management. She is employed as a human resources supervisor at Commerce Bank.

Her fiancé grew up in Marion, graduating from Marion High School in 1995 and Benedictine College, Atchison, in 1999 with a bachelor of science degree in biology. He is employed as a customer care manager at Asurion.

A June 6 wedding is planned at First Christian Church, Garnett.
