Hett-Schmidt wed in outdoor setting

Parents of the bride are Clifford and Evelyn Hett of Peabody. Lucilla Funk of Hillsboro is the bride’s grandmother.

The groom’s parents are Robert and Bonnie Schmidt of Marion.

The ceremony was at the home of the bride’s cousins, Dave and Michelle Hett, 1212 Pawnee, Peabody. Pastor Brad Penner of Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church, Fairview, Okla., uncle of the bride, officiated.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a white chiffon-over-satin gown featuring a v-neck and sleeveless bodice with an A-line skirt that flowed into a chapel-length train. Small, covered buttons accented the back and white bugle beads embellished the entire gown. She carried a bouquet of Viking mums, yellow button mums, solidago, galax leaves, ruscus leaves, and hyericum berries in a round nosegay.

Sheryl Wiemers of Emporia, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a hunter green, A-line, floor-length dress and carried a bouquet similar to the bride’s.

The best men were Rodney Schmidt of Glen Allen, Va., and Kevin Schmidt of Overland Park, brothers of the groom. They also served as ushers prior to the ceremony.

Phyllis Slipke of Netawaka, friend of the bride, served as the guest book attendant. Quinton, Jeremy, and Alli Hett of Marion, cousins of the bride, were in charge of the gifts.

A reception was held after the ceremony at Aulne United Methodist Church. Hosts were Jerry and Micki Siebert of Cedar Point, friends of the couple, and Richard and Darlene Siebert of Wichita, uncle and aunt of the groom.

Reception attendants were Becky Makovec and Angela Lange, both of Marion, friends of the bride.

The couple honeymooned in Hawaii.

The bride is a graduate of Marion High School and Emporia State University, and is an administrative assistance at PrairieLand Partners of Marion.

The groom is a graduate of Marion High School, Northwest Kansas Area Vo-Tech School, Colby Community College, and attended East Field College, Mesquite, Texas. He is a machinist at Marion Die & Fixture.
