Hill chosen as state FFA officer

Nellie Hill became the seventh Centre student to serve as a state FFA officer when she was elected vice president at the Kansas FFA Convention May 26 to 29 in Manhattan.

The Centre chapter and the Marion/Florence chapter both finished in the top 20 percent in student, chapter, and community development.

The Centre FFA scrapbook finished second, and Theo Kassebaum finished third in creed speaking. Nathan Barney and Heath Hill received state FFA degrees.

Tanner Brunner, Ripley Howard, Theo Kassebaum, Tori Marler, Katie Remy, and Cole Svoboda from Centre competed in parliamentary procedure.

Others who attended from Centre were Amanda Floyd, Alex Hajek, Jacob Jirak, Shane Methvin, and Dani Spohn.

Advisers Cary Granzow and Gaea Wimmer accompanied the group.

Nine FFA members attended from Marion-Florence: Sam Ehrlich, Louis Holt, Adam Cope, Mitch Ragland, Adam Molleker, Derek Stuchlik, Taylor Harms, Jessie Taylor, and Jared Vondenkamp.

Mark Meyer and Cindy Ragland accompanied as sponsors.

Participants heard from the national FFA President Paul Moya, listened to motivational speakers, participated in leadership workshops and toured Dymax, which manufactures excavating attachments in Wamego, and the Veterinary Medicine Hospital at Kansas State University.
