Police report

June 27: A suspicious person was reported in the 800 block of East D Street, which was an elderly person from Bucklin who was confused and lost. Littering was reported at Washington and First streets. A 911 disconnect was checked at Tabor College. Officers participated in a firearms qualification training session.

June 28: Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department received assistance with locating a wanted person. An abandoned bicycle was recovered. Unsupervised children were reported in the 500 block of South Adams Street. A parking complaint was checked at Hillsboro Heights.

June 29: A purse was reported stolen in the 800 block of West Grand Avenue but was later located and had not been stolen. A fireworks complaint was filed in the 300 block of North Birch Street. A breath test was administered to an individual per a court order. Assistance was provided to Marion County Sheriff’s Department with an out-of-control mental patient at Hillsboro Community Hospital. An activated commercial alarm in the 100 block of North Ash Street was checked.

June 30: Officers participated in a firearms qualification training session. Assistance was provided with a vagrant on K-15, a vehicle accident on 190th Road, and traffic control for construction in the 600 block of South Main Street. An assault was reported in the 500 block of South Adams Street; a 15-year-old was taken into custody for attacking his foster mother. Numerous fireworks complaints were filed. A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked. Suspicious activity was reported in the former AMPI complex. Response was given to an activated commercial alarm in the 300 block of North Ash Street.

July 1: A business owner reported a possible forged check. A salesman was reported selling in the residential district without a permit. Numerous fireworks complaints were reported. A suspicious person was checked in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street. Hillsboro Fire Department received assistance with a field fire in the 300 block of North Madison Street.

July 2: A Garmin GPS and an Apple IPod were taken from a vehicle while it was parked in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue; the loss was valued at $374. A motorist received assistance at Main and D streets. A Dewalt cordless drill and a Dewalt circular saw, valued at $750, were taken from a vehicle while it was parked in the 800 block of West Grand Avenue. An XM radio plug adaptor was taken from a vehicle while parked in the 700 block of West A Street, and was valued at $40. A suspicious person was reported in the Willow Glen. A noise complaint in the 200 block of South Birch Street and a parking complaint in the 200 block of South Wilson Street were checked.

July 3: A confrontation between a father and son was reported in the 800 block of East D Street. A power outage was reported in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street.

July 4: A motorist received assistance in the 400 block of North Ash Street. Erratic driving was reported on U.S. 56. Possible drunk driving was reported on Indigo Road, but the driver was not. A driver was arrested on D Street for driving under the influence after a routine traffic stop.

July 5: Peabody Police Department received assistance when it was reported there was a man with a gun. Numerous fireworks complaints were filed. Assistance was provided to an elderly driver who became lost while driving from Minnesota.

July 6: An activated commercial alarm was checked in the 100 block of North Ash Street. A license tag was reported stolen in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. The tag was found later in the street and had fallen off the vehicle. An individual reported that someone had put a dent in his vehicle while parked in the 200 block of North Cedar Street. An individual reported being harassed by a text. The sheriff’s department assisted with a theft report.

July 7: A breath test was administered to an individual per a court order. An aircraft was fueled at Hillsboro Municipal Airport. A juvenile was arrested in the 600 block of West Grand Avenue and transported to juvenile detention in Junction City. A harassment complaint was filed in the 300 block of North Ash Street.

Thursday: An animal complaint was checked in the 300 block of North Main Street. A motorist received assistance in the 400 block of North Ash Street. Assistance was provided to a court services officer. A code enforcement officer received assistance with a nuisance complaint.

Friday: Suspicious activity was checked in the 600 block of South Ash Street. Welfare checks were provided in the 300 block of Kennedy Street and the 300 block of South Washington Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Suspicious activity was checked in the 300 block of North Ash Street.

Saturday: A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked. An individual in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue reported finding a firearm that had been left behind by another individual. A noise complaint was reported at Hillsboro Family Aquatic Center.
