Police report

Hillsboro police department submitted the following report:

Aug. 15: Wesley Medical Center reported a 2-year-old from Hillsboro had been admitted with a fractured skull; the incident was investigated by Hillsboro Police Department and Wesley medical staff and was determined to have been an accident and not the result of child abuse. A suicidal person was reported in the 300 block of South Main Street and was transported to a medical facility.

Aug. 16: Social and rehabilitative services personnel received assistance with an investigation in the 300 block of South Birch Street after the agency initiated the investigation regarding parental supervision; law enforcement was called when the parents became uncooperative. A suspicious vehicle was reported near the aquatic center. A dog complaint in the 200 block of South Birch was checked. Suspicious activity was checked in the 400 block of North Ash Street. Assistance with an investigation was provided to Dickinson County sheriff department.

Aug. 17: A theft was reported in the 300 block of North Ash Street. The manager of Casey’s General Store reported someone had stolen a cigarette receptacle that had been located on the side of the building. A suspicious vehicle with out-of-state tags was reportedly driving around town and the driver was looking for scrap copper. A parking complaint was checked at D and Adams streets.

Aug. 18: Officers assisted with traffic control at Hillsboro Elementary School. Officers attended weather safety training. A funeral escort was provided. Stolen property that was re-sold was recovered. Individuals met with an officer regarding a protection-from-abuse order. Officers unlocked a camper hook-up in Memorial Park. An individual reported money was stolen from his vehicle while it was in Council Grove; assistance was provided to the Council Grove police department. A noise complaint was reported in the 300 block of East Grand Avenue.

Thursday: Officers provided traffic control at Hillsboro Elementary School. A dog complaint was checked at A and Main streets. An abandoned bicycle was recovered.

Friday: Suspicious activity was checked at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Someone entered a residence in the 300 block of South Ash Street and removed a game player and games; a suspect has been developed in this case. A traffic complaint was checked at Adams and D streets.

Saturday: Assistance was provided to a sheriff’s deputy with a driver possibly under the influence. Someone reportedly turned on hydrants in the park. The sheriff’s department received assistance with a disturbance at Marion Reservoir.
