Police report

Hillsboro police released the following information:

Aug. 29: An abandoned bicycle was returned to the owner. A violation of a protection from abuse order was reported in the 500 block of West Grand Avenue. A commercial alarm was activated in the 300 block of North Ash Street. Suspicious activity was reported in the 200 block of South Main Street. A disturbance was checked in the 200 block of North Washington Street.

Aug. 30: An unauthorized vehicle was reported operating on Willow Road. An officer attempted to contact two suspicious people in an alley in the 400 block of South Main Street; the subjects fled on foot. Two cats were reported missing in the 300 block of South Washington Street. Assistance was provided to an individual with a child safety seat.

Aug. 31: An emergency message was delivered in the 100 block of North Birch Street. A dog complaint was checked at Adams Street and U.S. 56. The sheriff’s department received assistance with an investigation.

Sept. 1: Officers assisted with the “Bucks for Buckles” program in school zones. An individual was tested for alcohol consumption for child custody purposes. A parking complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Adams Street. Assistance was provided with a child custody dispute in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue.

Sept. 2: An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Wichita police department received assistance with an investigation. Vandalism was reported at Tabor College when someone reported his car was scratched while parked in a lot. The sheriff’s department assisted when a missing child was reported in Lehigh. A strange odor was reported coming from an apartment in the 300 block of South Adams Street.

Sept. 3: A motorist received assistance on Main Street. A stalking complaint was filed in the 400 block of South Main Street. Lost property was located and returned to owner. Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance with a combative person on U.S. 56. Dog complaints were checked in the 300 block of West Third Street and the 300 block of North Madison Street.

Sept. 4: A juvenile reportedly ran away in the 500 block of South Adams Street. A report was investigated regarding an individual forging prescriptions. A civil standby was provided in the 300 block of East Second Street. A civil dispute was checked involving vehicles in the 200 block of South Jefferson Street. A dog complaint was reported on West Grand Avenue. A bicycle was reportedly taken in the 200 block of West Grand Avenue and was later found at another residence. Fireworks were reported detonated at Tabor dorm at Adams and D streets.

Sept. 5: A dog complaint was checked in the 600 block of South Ash Street. Assistance was provided to the sheriff’s department with a reckless driver on Indigo. A motorist received assistance at Elm Street and U.S. 56.

Sept. 6: A missing bicycle was located and returned to the owner. An attempted suicide was reported in the 300 block of South Main Street; the person was transported to a medical facility.

Sept. 7: A theft was reported on Eisenhower Street when an individual reported someone had stolen a financial card from her vehicle and had used it at various locations. Lost items that were found on a street were returned to the owner. Someone attempted to obtain medication with a false prescription in the 500 block of South Ash Street; charges are pending against a Newton woman. An individual reported a bicycle was missing from Hillsboro Elementary School.

Sept. 8: A commercial alarm was activated in the 600 block of East D Street. An individual reported a juvenile waved a knife at him. A disturbance complaint was checked in the 500 block of East First Street when two adult males were yelling at each other. A motorist received assistance in Industrial Park.

Thursday: An injured animal was reported in the 300 block of South Cedar Street. A trespass complaint was filed in the 100 block of South Jefferson Street when individuals gained entrance to an apartment without authorization; officers located remnants of drugs after searching the premises. A motorist received assistance at D and Adams streets.

Friday: A bicycle was reported stolen at Hillsboro High School. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Birch Street. A K-9 unit searched HHS.

Saturday: Curfew violations were reported in Memorial Park. A parking complaint was checked in the 300 block of South Adams Street. Vandalism was reported in the 200 block of East First Street when two tires were slashed on a vehicle. An escort was provided for military personnel who returned home. A welfare check was provided in the 300 block of North Madison Street.
