Police report

Feb. 20: A theft was reported in the 400 block of East First Street, when someone reported that a juvenile had stolen his bicycle; after locating the suspect, it was determined that both parties had identical bicycles and the victim’s bike was still at his residence. A suspicious person was checked in the 600 block of South Ash Street.

Feb. 21: Family Preservation Services personnel received assistance with harassment and child custody complaints. City council packets were delivered. A suspicious school bus was reported at Memorial Park.

Feb. 22: A two-vehicle, non-injury accident was investigated at Washington Street and Grand Avenue. Assistance was provided with a child custody transfer. An injury accident was reported at Jefferson Street and Grand Avenue, when a vehicle struck a child on a bicycle. A funeral escort was provided. Officers attended municipal court. A theft complaint was reported in the 200 block of South Adams Street. An individual reported his credit card was stolen from his place of employment; the card was then used at several locations; the case remains under investigation.

Feb. 23: Kansas Highway Patrol received assistance with a drug search. An officer instructed a D.A.R.E. class at Hillsboro Elementary School. Suspicious activity was checked at the sports complex. An employer expressed concerns of a former disgruntled employee who might retaliate.

Feb. 24: A trailer was inspected regarding a defective equipment citation. An officer instructed two drug awareness courses at Hillsboro High School. A child custody complaint was filed when an individual reported a former spouse would not bring his children to him; the officer pointed out that according to legal documents, the person filing the complaint was not to have custody of the children until the following day. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of East First Street. A disturbance complaint in the 200 block of North Ash Street occurred when an individual wanted an officer to remove his current live-in girlfriend who had a legal right to be at the residence.

Feb. 25: A 5-year-old was reportedly walking in a street alone. Two unattended children were left in a car in Hillsboro. Vandalism was reported at Tabor College.
