Police report

April 3: A non-injury accident was investigated in the 700 block of South Main Street. An individual reported dog feces had been left on a vacant lot that she owned in Willow Glen.

April 4: Vandalism was reported in the 300 block of North Madison Street, when someone punctured tires on a vehicle; damages were estimated at $538. A dog complaint was reported in the 500 block of East First Street. Vandalism was reported in Memorial park when a floodlight was broken; the damage was estimated at $170. An abandoned bicycle was picked up at Tabor College. Smoke was reported in the 300 block of North Adams Street. Emergency medical services personnel received assistance in the 400 block of East First Street.

April 5: Bicycles were registered. A noise complaint was reported at the Marion County Fairgrounds. An individual reported his dog was stolen two weeks ago from downtown; he had located the dog in the 300 block of North Ash Street but the current owner said he had taken in the dog as a stray. An officer presented a K-9 demonstration to Hillsboro Kiwanis Club.

April 6: An individual reported her neighbor in the 200 block of East F Street had behaved in a lewd manner. An officer taught a D.A.R.E. class at Hillsboro Elementary School. A commercial alarm was activated in the 300 block of North Ash Street. Suspicious activity was checked downtown.

April 7: A dog complaint in the 200 block of South Birch Street resulted in the animal being taken to a veterinary clinic. A civil process was served in the 300 block of North Washington Street. Officials at Hillsboro Middle School reported the theft of six Genesis Matthew archery bows from a storage shed; the bows were various colors and valued at $666. Officers attended cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first-aid training at city hall. Someone reported in the 100 block of North Birch Street that he thought someone was trying to kill him. A report of a female screaming in the 100 block of North Cedar Street resulted in officers investigating; they were unable to locate the source.

April 8: Assistance with background investigations was provided to military recruiters. A 911 disconnect at Tabor College was checked. A loud exhaust complaint was checked in Memorial Park. An officer stopped a vehicle with juveniles who had reportedly been spraying shaving cream.

April 9: Emergency medical services personnel received assistance with a call in the 100 block of South Date Street, when an individual reported chest pains after spending time in Nebraska; the individual was concerned he may have been poisoned. A domestic disturbance in the 200 block of North Ash Street was investigated. A verbal dispute between a couple was reported in the 200 block of North Lincoln Street. A non-injury accident was investigated in the 700 block of South Main Street.

April 10: A disturbance was reported in the 200 block of North Ash Street. A dog bite was reported and the individual treated at Hillsboro Community Hospital. Suspicious activity was reported in the 100 block of North Madison Street.

April 11: EMS received assistance with a call in the 200 block of South Washington Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. A parking complaint was reported at Ash and Second streets. An officer taught a D.A.R.E. class at HES. A harassment complaint was filed in the 100 block of North Main Street. A threat was reported in the 400 block of South Main Street. An opossum was reported on South Date Street. A dog complaint was made in the 400 block of South Date Street.

April 12: Assistance was provided with a child custody dispute. A federal agency received assistance with a background investigation. A physical altercation between two males in the 500 block of East First Street resulted in one man being arrested and accused of battery.

April 13: The office of federal probation received assistance with an investigation. An officer taught a D.A.R.E. class at HES. A child custody concern was reported in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue. A bicycle was reported stolen in the 100 block of South Birch Street and was later located.

Thursday: A gas skip in the 300 block of North Ash Street was reported; the individual was located and returned to pay. A dog complaint was checked in the 300 block of North Ash Street. A motorist received assistance at Ash and D streets. Suspicious activity was checked downtown.

Friday: A parking complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Main Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. A local business received assistance with security. Assistance was provided to city officials at the former AMPI building. City council packets were delivered. An individual in the 300 block of South Main Street told police he was under court-ordered house arrest but needed to leave his property for emergency purposes.

Saturday: An individual requested airport information. A public nuisance was reported. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Cedar Street. A noise complaint was reported in the 100 block of North Birch Street. An intoxicated individual was at Hillsboro Community Hospital because it appeared he had been assaulted but did not provide any information to law enforcement.
