May 1: A 911 disconnect was checked at Tabor College. A dog complaint was reported in the 300 block of South Ash Street. A motorist received assistance at D and Ash streets. Suspicious activity was checked downtown.

May 2: A federal agent received assistance with two background investigations. Suspicious activity was checked on Willow Road. It was reported that people were allowing dogs to defecate on the baseball fields. Individuals were fingerprinted for employment purposes. OASIS in Marion reported that a foster child from Hillsboro was refusing to go home because the student claimed to have been abused by the foster mother; Hillsboro officers picked up the child who was transported to juvenile intake; charges are pending. A shoplifting complaint was filed at Hillsboro Heights; charges are pending against a Peabody woman. Assistance was provided with a brush pile fire along the former railroad tracks west of Hillsboro; this was the third brush pile ignited in the past month.

May 3: Kansas Department of Health and Environment referred a complaint of people smoking in a local business open to the public. Suspicious activity was checked in the 200 block of South Birch Street. A traffic complaint was reported in the 500 block of South Washington Street. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Birch Street. An officer instructed a D.A.R.E. class at Hillsboro Elementary School. A possible prowler was reported in the 100 block of South Ash Street. An out-of-control juvenile was investigated in the 500 block of South Adams Street; the physical confrontation was between a child and a foster mother; the juvenile was transported to Hillsboro Community Hospital and then to juvenile intake. A theft was reported in the 300 block of South Main Street, when an individual reported his girlfriend had stolen his television after he told her to leave her residence; the girlfriend was able to prove that the television belonged to her.

May 4: An individual in the 300 block of South Main Street reported that her ex-boyfriend was threatening to place compromising photos of her on the Internet if she did not return a television he believes is his. Officers attended weather watch training. Assistance was provided with an industrial accident investigation. A possible missing person was reported in the 700 block of North Main Street. Theft was reported in the 100 block of North Cedar Street, when someone reported medication missing from the residence. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Cedar Street.

May 5: An officer recovered property believed to have been previously stolen. A traffic complaint in the 400 block of North Ash Street was checked. A dog complaint was checked in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. Abandoned vehicles at 150th and Indigo roads and 180th and Indigo roads were checked.

May 6: A 911 disconnect was checked at Tabor College. Two abandoned bicycles were recovered. An individual was arrested in the 400 block of South Main Street who was wanted on outstanding warrants. A K-9 unit searched the schools. An intoxicated driver was reported in the 500 block of East D Street but upon investigation it was concluded that the driver was not intoxicated. A traffic complaint was checked in the 500 block of South Adams Street. A domestic disturbance was reported in the 300 block of South Date Street. Officers attended safety training at city hall.

May 7: A man was reported yelling in the 500 block of East First Street. Criminal damage was reported at Tabor College when someone threw a rock through a vending machine and removed several food items; others continued to pilfer the machine as the day progressed. A skunk was reported in the 400 block of North Cedar Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of West Grand Avenue. Several out-of-control juveniles were reported in the 500 block of South Adams Street, when a foster mother reported the children had left church and walked home without her consent. An individual reported there was a golf cart in his yard in the 500 block of South Wilson Street that wasn’t his; the cart had been removed from Tabor College. Suspicious activity in the 400 block of West Grand Avenue was checked when an individual found his vehicle fuel door open, but no fuel was missing. A second report was filed of out-of-control children in the 500 block of South Adams Street; an individual reported children were angry and had damaged her property; the children reported being mistreated by the foster mother. An individual reported seeing a juvenile in the garage at the Schaeffler House Museum; the juvenile was also questioned about BB gun damage in the area.

May 9: A report was made of an individual violating city ordinance by housing too many dogs in the 500 block of South Adams Street. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Main Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of North Main Street. Assistance was provided to a federal agent with a background investigation.

May 10: A criminal trespass complaint was filed in the 100 block of North Ash Street, when someone reported that unauthorized people had been accessing a grain tower. A non-injury accident was investigated in the 100 block of West B Street. Assistance with a background investigation was provided for the military. A dog complaint was checked in the 400 block of South Birch Street. Two people were cited on suspicion of consumption of alcohol under the age of 21 in the 500 block of South Main Street. An individual reported being harassed on a social Internet site.

May 11: An officer assisted with a bicycle rodeo at HES. A student reported the theft of an iPod from Hillsboro High School. An individual reported seeing someone with a flashlight in her garage in the 300 block of South Wilson Street. Reckless driving was reported at Grand and Birch streets.

Thursday: A camper hook-up was provided at Memorial Park. Sexual assault was reported in the 400 block of North Ash Street, when someone reported being assaulted by someone she knew.

Friday: A dog complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Birch Street. An individual was fingerprinted for employment purposes. Three camper hook-ups were provided at Memorial Park. Damage was reported in the 400 block of East Grand Avenue, when someone reported a mower had thrown a rock through his vehicle window. An out-of-control resident was reported in the 600 block of South Ash Street and an officer assisted medical staff in controlling the subject for transport to a medical facility. Hillsboro fire received assistance with an activated fire alarm at Tabor College. Hillsboro City Council packets were delivered. A noise complaint was reported in the 600 block of South Lincoln Street.

Saturday: A child custody complaint was filed in the 200 block of North Ash Street. A civil complaint was reported in the 400 block of North Ash Street, when an individual reported that her neighbor opens and closes his front door too much. A resident in the 300 block of North Birch Street reported gunshots west of Hillsboro but officers were unable to locate the source. Curfew violations were reported in Memorial Park. An aggravated battery complaint was reported in the 100 block of North Birch Street when an individual reported that a man had come to his door and threatened him with a shotgun. The suspect was apprehended and taken to Marion County Jail.
