Jan. 29: A parking complaint was checked. An abandoned vehicle was reported in the 100 block of North Jefferson. A harassment complaint was filed in the 300 block of Birch Street; a female complained her estranged husband sent someone to her residence to contact her in violation of a protection from abuse order. Canine training was conducted. A child welfare check was performed. Officers assisted the Marion County Sheriff with a non-injury accident.

Jan. 30: A shoplifting complaint in the 600 block of North Ash Street; store personnel reported catching a Hillsboro man shoplifting; charges are pending. A dog complaint was checked. A theft was reported in the 100 block of Elm Street; a person reported someone using his credit card without authorization. Officers assisted a child in recovering property. A child custody dispute was mediated. Officers performed a funeral escort. Officers received several complaints that the automatic carwash on D Street had damaged several tires; the bay was placed out of service. An officer instructed DARE class at Hillsboro Elementary School. A possible hit-and-run accident in the 200 block of South Birch street was reported.

Jan. 31: Officers assisted with a protection from abuse order in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue. A child custody dispute was mediated. Officers notified the electric department about a small power outage. A parking complaint was checked. Lost credit cards were recovered at Ash Street and Grand Avenue; the cards were turned over to Marion Police Department for return. A non-injury accident was worked at A and Adams streets.

Feb. 1: A hit-and-run accident was worked at Tabor College; a suspect was located and citations were assessed for leaving the scene and failure to report the accident. An officer instructed DARE class at HES. A damage complaint was checked in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue; a person reported damage to a door that occurred when a tenant was moving out; the case was a civil matter. A child custody dispute was mediated. A dog complaint was checked. A civil stand-by was mediated. A theft report was taken in Hillsboro Heights; a person reported her purse was missing from her vehicle. The purse was later found on the victim’s property. Suspicious activity was checked. Officers assisted the Kansas Department of Corrections with locating an absconder. A child custody dispute was mediated.

Feb. 2: Officers assisted the Kansas Department of Corrections with an investigation. A harassment complaint was taken at Tabor College. A person reported finding property reported as stolen.

Feb. 3: A protection from abuse order violation was investigated in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue. A 911 disconnect in the 200 block of South Jefferson Street was checked. Officers assisted emergency medical services.

Feb. 4: Two dog complaints were filed. A noise complaint was filed.
