May 20: A dog complaint was checked. A civil matter was reported — an argument over fuel reimbursement. A hitchhiker was checked along U.S. 56. A physical altercation was broken up between two females in the 700 block of South Lincoln Street; charges are pending. Officers assisted Salina Police Department with an investigation.

May 21: Officers assisted a city inspector with a code violation in the 100 block of South Main Street. Officers removed debris from U.S. 56. Suspicious activity was checked at Washington and D streets.

May 22: Officers qualified on the firearms range. A landlord and tenant dispute was mediated in the 300 block of East Second Street. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street.

May 23: Officers assisted with a civil stand-by in the 500 block of South Wilson Street. A person reported being harassed by a subject already charged with battery in a prior case. A report of a runaway juvenile in the 200 block of West Grand Avenue was followed up; the parent reported finding the juvenile shortly thereafter.

May 24: Suspicious people reported at the library. Officers assisted Great Bend Court Services with an investigation. Officers interviewed several children in reference to possible abuse; interviews were conducted by the Marion County Sheriff’s investigator. An officer delivered a death notification. An open fire was reported in the 200 block of North Cedar Street. Officers worked an injury accident near Third and Ash Street; a 26-year-old Hillsboro man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol as a result.

May 25: A person reported having two tires punctured on his 1998 Ford Escort in the 100 block of South Date Street. Lost property was returned to its owner. A child custody dispute was mediated in the 200 block of North Jefferson Street. A camper hook up was performed. A motorist was assisted. A person reported being harassed by her husband’s attorney. Officers provided an escort for the Hillsboro High School softball team. A person reported their mailbox was broken by a mower at Second and Madison streets. A person reported trash being illegally dumped into dumpsters at the fairgrounds. A child custody dispute in the 300 block of East Second Street was mediated.

May 26: A parking complaint was checked. Suspicious activity was checked in the 400 block of South Ash Street. Officers assisted with a vehicle lock out in Hillsboro Heights. A dog complaint was checked.

May 27: A disturbance complaint was checked in the 200 block of South Jefferson Street; A person was at a residence to get the girlfriend’s daughter who did not want to return home. A Dumpster fire was reported in Hillsboro Heights; it was a result of a cigarette. Officers assisted with a physical altercation at the demolition derby at the fairgrounds; one spectator was arrested for disorderly conduct; charges are pending against a driver and a derby official.

May 28: A motorist was assisted. A verbal domestic disturbance was mediated in the 500 block of East First Street. A person reported a customer harassing personnel at a business in Hillsboro Heights. Suspicious activity was checked in the 100 block of North Main Street.

May 29: A welfare check was performed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A person was fingerprinted for employment. A report of a sick opossum was checked in the 100 block of North Madison Street.

May 30: Officers assisted a federal agent with a background investigation. Two motorists were assisted. Officers issued a warning for bicycle lights.

Thursday: A dog complaint was checked in the 900 block of East D Street. A welfare check was performed in the 400 block of North Ash Street. A downed line was checked in the 100 block of East First Street; it was a cable TV line. A report of an out-of-control child was checked in the 200 block of North Lincoln Street. A report of a reckless driver in Hillsboro Heights was checked.

Friday: A person, who had been reported as a missing person, made contact with Hillsboro Police Department, declaring she was fine and had left voluntarily. Officers assisted Marion County Sheriff with a reckless driver. Officers assisted sheriff with a non-injury accident. A report a fight at a bar in the 100 block of South Main Street; a verbal confrontation between two people; one person was removed from the establishment. A burglary report was filed in the 200 block of South Cedar Street. The person reported an Xbox and several games stolen from his residence; the person later reported that the property was returned.

Saturday: Two dog complaints were checked. Reports of curfew violations at the sports complex were checked.
