Police Report

Aug. 21

A person reported a forced entry into a vacant trailer in the 400 block of South Birch Street; the interior of the trailer was also damaged. A trespassing complaint was taken in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street; the resident said a neighbor entered his residence while he was gone. Officers provided a civil stand-by. A resident in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street reported that a neighbor damaged his fence.

Aug. 22

Tickets were written for several parking violations in the 500 block of East C Street. A dog complaint was filed. A dog welfare check was performed in the 300 block of North Lincoln Street. A child custody dispute in the 300 block of South Birch Street was reported. A person reported being verbally assaulted by a neighbor.

Aug. 23

A parking complaint was taken. An abandoned bicycle was recovered. Suspicious activity was reported in the 400 block of South Ash Street. A disturbance complaint in the 300 block of North Lincoln was a verbal confrontation between neighbors. A business owner in the 500 block of East D Street filed a trespassing complaint against a former employee who was told not enter the property after being terminated. Officers assisted a person with a camper hook-up in Memorial Park. A complaint was reported of a person exhibiting strange behavior in the 400 block of South Ash Street.

Aug. 24

A parking complaint was taken. Officers made traffic stops in Hillsboro Elementary School zone. Officers assisted a person who was locked out of his or her vehicle in the 300 block of North Madison Street. Officers attended safety training at city hall. The electric department was assisted with a utility shut-off. A resident reported a bicycle stolen. Officers assisted the Marion County Sheriff’s office with a civil process. Suspicious activity was reported in the 100 block of North Madison Street. Officers assisted a motorist.

Thursday

Suspicious activity was reported in the 100 block of North Main Street. A welfare check was performed. A curfew violation was reported. A stolen vehicle was reported in the 400 block of South Birch Street; the car was titled to the suspect and the complaint was a civil matter. A vehicle fire was reported in the 100 block of South Birch Street; the state fire Marshal’s office is assisting with an investigation.

Friday

An abandoned vehicle was reported. A motorist was assisted. Officers worked a non-injury two-vehicle accident at Grant and Jefferson Streets.

Saturday

Officers assisted with traffic control for a triathlon. A property dispute was reported; a juvenile was reportedly in possession of stolen bicycle parts and had used them to repair his own bicycle. A prowler complaint in the 100 block of North Cedar Street was investigated; the K-9 unit tracked the suspect. An injured cat was reported. A parking complaint was taken.
