Hillsboro police report

Feb. 12: A suspicious vehicle was reported. A person reported a suspicious object along the old railroad tracks; the item was an old unexploded “Drano bomb.” A disturbance was reported in the 500 block of East D Street; a person used vulgar language and threatened a store clerk over a parking stall; the victim reported the suspect vehicle had Florida tags and the suspect has been identified.

Feb. 13: Officers assisted a motorist. A damaged sign post was reported. A welfare check was performed. An officer instructed DARE classes at Hillsboro Elementary School. Officers increased patrols due to icy conditions. A parking complaint was checked. A suspicious vehicle was checked. Suspicious activity was checked.

Feb. 14: A commercial alarm was checked in the 100 block of East Grand Avenue. A phone harassment complaint was checked. Officers assisted with a reckless driver. Officers assisted emergency medical services. A curfew violation was reported in Memorial Park. A domestic disturbance in the 400 block of South Main Street was checked; it was a female and her 9-year-old son arguing.

Feb. 15: A welfare check was performed. A person reported an identity theft; he reported that his estranged wife completed their taxes without his consent. Officers instructed a DARE class at HES.

Feb. 16: A dog complaint was checked. A theft report was checked at Tabor College; a person reported that someone entered his dorm room and removed a financial card. Officers attended storm spotter training.

Feb. 17: Officers attended safety training at City Hall. A report of a reckless driver in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue was checked. A report of a possible underage party was checked. A theft report was filed in the 700 block of South Ash Street; a person reported that someone may have removed money from his wallet, but was not sure.

Feb. 18: A person reported that her debit card was overcharged at a local store. A person reported his vehicle window was broken at Tabor College. A parking complaint was checked.

Feb. 19: A traffic complaint pertaining to window tint was checked. A dog complaint was checked. A report of a reckless driver was checked.

Feb. 20: Officers received breath and alcohol detection training. A welfare check was performed. A report of possible protection from abuse order violation in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue were checked. Officers worked two non-injury accidents. Officers assisted with recruit training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. A dog complaint was checked. Officers assisted EMS.

Feb. 21: Officers assisted social and rehabilitative services with an investigation. Officers assisted with recruit training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. A dog complaint was checked. Officers assisted EMS.

Feb. 22: Officers assisted EMS. Officers assisted the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office with an investigation. A domestic disturbance was checked in the 300 block of North Ash Street; a couple were arguing over a cell phone. Officers assisted a motorist at Adams and U.S. 56. Officers assisted with recruit training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. Officers assisted a motorist. A report of a reckless driver was checked.

Feb. 23: Officers assisted a person looking for a hospital emergency ward. An abandoned vehicle was checked in the 100 block of South Ash Street. Officers assisted with recruit training at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center. Officer received training in detecting meth lab operations and clean up safety.

Feb. 24: Officers assisted EMS. A report of a struck gas meter by a vehicle was checked. A commercial alarm at the high school was checked. A person reported that his vehicle was egged on West Grand Street. A person reported someone had let the air out of his vehicle’s tires.

Feb. 25: A parking complaint was checked. Officers assisted with an injury accident on U.S. 56. Suspicious activity was checked at D and Ash streets. A commercial alarm was checked in the 500 block of East Grand Avenue.
