Hillsboro students, community to present play

Three Hillsboro Middle School students, Tabor College students, and two Tabor alums are rehearsing “To Kill a Mockingbird,” to be performed Jan 27 through 30 in Hillsboro High School Auditorium.

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee, the local production will include sixth-graders Anna Glanzer as Scout, Vance Klassen as Jem, and Ben Koop as Dill.

Hillsboro High School and Tabor alumnus and Newton attorney Tim Hodge will play the role of Atticus Finch. Donya Anderson, HMS girls’ basketball coach and a para-educator at OASIS in Marion, will play the role of Calpurnia, the Finch family housekeeper.

Judy Harder will direct the production.

Other cast members include Micah Leake, Maria Loewen, Rebecca Steketee, Alisa Lynn, Nathan Adamyk, Michael Adamyk, Joshua Murphy, Ashley Bird, Corey Clark, Jordan Schrag, Silas Pederson, Joshua Paulus, Carson Stutzman, Brandon Goodman, and Rae’shon Johnson.

Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 through 29 and 2 p.m. Jan. 30. General admission tickets are $7; student tickets are $4 and should be reserved by calling the Tabor College Student Life Office at (620) 947-3121, ext. 1033.
