A grant given to North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging will provide deposit assistance to low-income renters.

Stacy Tipton, housing coordinator for North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging, said grants will help with utility and rent deposits.

“It qualifies by gross income according to family size,” Tipton said.

The $100,000 grant for Tenant Based Rental Assistance funds was provided by the Kansas Housing Resources Corporation. Renters in Marion and 10 other counties can apply.

The Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging is accepting applications now.

People who want to apply for a grant can get an application by calling (800) 432-2703 or get an application on the agency website.

Applications will be processed in the order they are received.

Last year more than 177 grants were awarded to low-income Kansans.
