Former Peabody area farmer Howard H. Goering, 89, died Sept. 28 at Buhler Sunshine Home.

He was born March 16, 1927, to Henry A. and Lydia (Stucky) Goering in Moundridge.

A farmer from 1951 to 2009, he was an active member of Burns Countryside Church and collected and restored farm equipment.

He married Darlene J. Jantz on March 16, 1951, at Moundridge; she died in 2014.

He also was preceded in death by brothers, Toby, Roland, and Harley, and sisters, twins Welda Schmidt and Welma Thiessen, Erma Goering, Ellen Schrag, and Florence Swanson.

He is survived by his children, Mike Goering of Lenexa, Rod Goering of Hutchinson, Randy Goering of Wichita, and Lynette Ramey of Newton; a brother, Vernon R. Goering of Moundridge; sisters, Joy Thiessen of Moundridge and Lorita Regier of Hesston; 20 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren.

Services were Saturday at Burns Countryside Church, with interment in the church cemetery.
