Huelskamp accepting interns

Kansas 1st congressional district Rep. Tim Huelskamp is accepting internships for summer 2012. Interested college-age students can apply to work in Huelskamp’s Dodge City, Hutchinson, Salina, and Washington, D.C., offices.

In the Kansas offices, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent casework or work on district-based projects of importance.

In Washington, interns’ responsibilities will vary. They will be asked to answer phones, run errands, research legislation for Huelskamp and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House of Representatives. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office.

All internships in are unpaid. More information — including the application — can be found at http://huelskamp.house.gov/internships. The application deadline for summer internships is March 15.
