Iola Russell

Iola Fern Russell, 66, died Thursday, Jan. 31, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She is pre-deceased by her father, Curtis Lee Russell.

She is survived by her mother, Iola G. Russell; brothers, Curtis Lee Russell and Jerry Allen Russell; and her sister, Debora Gaye Russell Baier.

Iola earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wichita State University in 2002. She worked at WSU as an accounting specialist in the financial operations department for 28 years, retiring in 2012.

She was content with a quiet life, being a constant reader, avid gardener, and one who valued animal companionship.

Donations in her memory can be made to Victory in the Valley, Inc., 3755 E. Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kan.

Baker Funeral Home in Peabody is handling the arrangements. A graveside service was scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
