Jack R. Adams, 79, of Hays died April 18 at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

He was born May 23, 1931 in Marion to John Quincy and Eva (Ray) Adams. A graduate of Marion High School, he was married to Patricia McCarty, who preceded him in death. He then married Shirley Williams on July 14, 1974, in McPherson.

He was a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper for 28 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hays.

His parents; a daughter, Donna; and a sister, Verla Giesbrecht, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; sons, Dennis of Yucca Valley, Calif., and Tony of Hays; daughters, Pam of Ohio and Debbie of El Dorado; sisters, Carol Helmer of Newton and Dorothy Conyers of Marion; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Hays and interment was Friday in the Marion cemetery. Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church and with Hospice of Hays Medical Center.
