Jack Beaston

Jack V. Beaston, 79, died Dec. 17, 2008, at his home in Marion.

Born April 6, 1929 in Marion, he was the son of Jay and Esther (Herbel) Beaston.

He married LaVerna “Vernie” Knight Oct. 1, 1950. She survives.

He served in the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. He joined his father in the family business in Marion, Beaston Market, as a third generation owner and operator.

He was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, Marion.

Other survivors include a daughter Marty Hiebert of Alma; a son, Brook Beaston of Jackson, Tenn.; and three granddaughters.

A memorial service was Saturday at Valley United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Smith officiating. A private family burial was held at Marion Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established with USD 408 for a new goal post at Warrior Football Field.
