James Beach Jr.

James “Jim” Corbett Beach Jr., 86, retired Chance Industries customer service representative and owner of HRK Warehouse in Marion, passed away, April 14, 2010, at his home in Augusta.

Jim was born in Checotah, Okla., to Corbett James Beach Sr. and May Cora (Duke) Beach Nov. 30, 1923.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and married Bernice McCombs Dec. 15, 1960, in Miami, Okla.

Survivors include his spouse, Bernice, of the home; sons, Corbett James and wife Sally Beach III of Wasilla, Alaska, and Jim and wife Lona Ball of Oakley; daughters, Peggy Gomez and companion Rosie Guevara, Sherry and husband Ronnie Pressler, and Charlotte and husband Randy Dorr of Tulsa, Connie and husband Tim Donnelley of Leon, and Jan and husband Steve Lanier of Augusta; a brother, Donald and wife Margie Beach of Bristow, Okla.; a sister, Lil Steffonaff of Tulsa; 24 grandchildren; and 52 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by grandson Tony Gomez, granddaughter Misty Childs, sister Margie Beach, and brother Paul Beach.

Visitation with family was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Dunsford-Zeiner Funeral Home, 201 E. Fifth Avenue, Augusta.

Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday at Haverhill Christian Church, Augusta.

Interment followed in Leon Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
