Andrew Brunner of EBH Engineering updated Marion City Council members on the progress of the Jex Addition project sewer last week.
Brunner reported to the council that the project was slightly behind schedule because crews have been unable to test the lift station.
“The delay was in trying to schedule a time for both the contractor and a representative for the company that constructed the lift station to come to the site and test the station,” Brunner said. “It’s the only thing stopping us from connecting residents along Santa Fe and Vine Sts.”
Testing for the station is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. Brunner said after crews will test lines and manholes before beginning to hook residents up to the station.
The scheduling has put the project slightly behind schedule, but not enough to miss contractor deadlines. Brunner estimates between 40 and 45 percent or 17,000 to 18,000 feet of the sewer lines have been laid. He also estimates the project as a whole to be between 35 and 40 percent completed.
“So far everything we’ve tested has passed,” he said.
