Joan Donahue

Joan M. Donahue, 78, of Lincolnville, passed away June 20, 2011, at St. Luke Living Center in Marion.

She was born in Marion County, the daughter of Irvin and Margaret (Unruh) Dirks. She grew to adulthood and graduated from high school at Durham.

On Jan. 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to James C. “Jim” Donahue. They owned and operated Donahue Corporation and Clover Cliff Ranch Bed and Breakfast.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, had been active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League — Ladies Aide, and Home Circle Club.

Joan’s favorite activity was baking cookies with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, crocheting, and playing the organ. She had a great love for animals, especially dogs.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Jay Dean Donahue.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim; son Dudley Donahue of Durham, and his family: Beth Donahue and Emily Donahue, both of Wichita, and Sarah Morgan and husband, Robert, of Dallas, Texas; son Tom Donahue and wife, Rhonda, and their family: Megan Donahue and Ryan Donahue and wife, Ronda, and children Dylan and Kyli, all of Fort Collins, Colo.; daughter Debbie Donahue of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and son Tim Donahue and wife, Lisa, of Lincolnville and their family: Ashley Donahue Olmstead and husband, Robert, of Wichita, and Andrew Donahue and wife, Krista, of Elmdale; brother Richard Dirks and wife, Kathy, of Durham; and sister Theresa Remmers and husband, Ray, of Hillsboro.

A prayer service was 7 p.m. Tuesday with visitation following at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

Interment will be at 6 tonight at Durham Park Cemetery near Durham.

Memorial funds have been established with Our Savior Lutheran Church and Marion County Spay and Neuter Program in care of Zeiner Funeral Home, 205 Elm St, Marion KS 66861.
