Joan Orme

Joan Orme, 77, of Rushville, Ind., died March 9 at Millers Merry Manor.

Born July 9, 1932, in Florence, Ky., to Roy and Carrie (Florence) Sorrell, she graduated from Rushville High School in 1950.

She married Thomas E. Orme Jr., on Oct. 28, 1950. He died March 2, 2008. Her parents also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Dianna Welch of Petosky, Mich., Pennie Herbert of Rushville, and Melissa Funk of Florence, Kan.; two brothers, James of Rushville and Roy Wayne of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Lila Meyer of Rushville and Norma Hosford of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with the Rev. Mick Saunders officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Cancer Fund in care of the Rush County Community Foundation.
