John Summers

John Henry Summers Sr., 87, died Friday at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born Sept. 23, 1921, in Metz, Mo., to Allen and Ethel May (Hill) Summers, he married Iris Mae Raffety on Aug. 30, 1941, in Springfield, Mo.

He was a retired auto parts technician, spending 40 years with the same company.

The couple moved to Marion in 1985, after his retirement.

A brother, Claude, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Jr. of Ponca City and Edward of Marion; two daughters, Mary Jane O’Conner of Marion and Virginia “Ginger” Mauck of Benton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.

Memorials may be made to Carpenter Place, Wichita; Marion City Library; or St. Luke Living Center.
