Amber Heerey and Timothy Russell were married Aug. 10, 2008, at Westlink Christian Church, Wichita.

Parents of the couple are Brad and Rhonda Heerey and Brad and Robin Russell, all of Wichita.

Grandparents of the couple are Betty Williams of Florence and the late Donald Williams, Charles and Virginia Heerey of Marion, Virginia Malone of Wichita and the late A.L. Malone, and John and Charlene Russell of St. Joseph, Mo.

Pastor Todd Hutchison officiated at the 5:30 p.m. double ring ceremony.

Pianist Laura Williams of Florence, aunt of the bride, accompanied Stacia Williams of Chicago, Ill., cousin of the bride, on the oboe. Vocalists were Dan and Lisa Schmidt of Wichita.

Candlelighters were Emily and Mary Henning, both of Wichita, cousins of the bride.

Program attendants were Andrew Henning, cousin of the bride, and Spencer Rummery, cousin of the groom, both of Wichita.

The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.

Jennifer Heerey of Wichita was her sister’s maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Megan Webber, Tracie Ott, Stacia Kaylor, and Emily Russell, sister of the groom, all of Wichita.

Kait Rummery of Wichita, cousin of groom, was the flower girl. Joshua Russell of Parker, Colo., was the ring bearer.

Kyle Owens of Wichita served as best man. The groom’s attendants were Kevin Hubbard, Matthew Heerey, brother of the bride, and Tyler Russell, brother of the groom, all of Wichita.

Scripture reader was Melissa Linnens of Wichita, cousin of the bride.

Guests were seated by Adam Heerey of Marion, cousin of the bride, Jordan Walker of Wichita, cousin of the groom.

Sarah Williams of Florence, cousin of the bride, and Sara Brown of Wichita were guest book attendants. Kayley Heerey of Marion, cousin of the bride, and Sarah Peacock of Wichita, cousin of the groom, attended the gift table.

A reception was held at the church.

The bride is a student in the doctoral of physical therapy program at Wichita State University.

Her husband is an audit associate at Grant Thornton, Wichita.

Following a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple will make their home in Wichita.

Couple celebrates 60 years

Fred and Edith Helmer of Marion will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Oct. 17, with a dinner at Wichita and a bus trip.

Fred Helmer and Edith Graham were married Oct. 17, 1948, at Syracuse.

During their married lives they lived in Wichita, Liberal, and Marion.

Fred worked for Security Oil in Wichita and Liberal for 25 years and then purchased his own business, Helmer’s Service in Marion. Edith worked for the State of Kansas for 26 years and for Home Health of Marion County. Both are now retired.

They have four children, David of Marion, Debra Thomason (husband Harold) of Denison, Iowa, Deanna Gilbert (husband Royce) of Alma, and Dan Helmer (wife Brenda) of Andover.

They also have nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Deines family has reunion

Descendants of Phillip Deines Sr. held their 23rd annual family reunion with a basket dinner Oct. 5 at the Lincolnville Community building.

Hosts were the family of Art Deines.

Descendants of the Christoph Deines family attending were: Weldon and Rosemary Deines, Christina Bartel, Macy and Mason, Mervin and Leona Deines, Debbie Coup, Terry and Julie Deines, Makenzie, Dylan and Carly, Adeline Warns.

Ron and Sandra Kinkelaar and Avery, Lizetta Stout, Merle and Bernice Stout, Brian Stout and daughter, Kevin Stout, Pam Gakle and Ninc, Chris and Dahn Walker, Cierra and Corbin, Dorothy Kolle, Steve and Cindy Dunning.

Jerry and Paula Berg, Matthew, Jillyan and Ariel, Harlow and Edith Warneke, Harold and Anita Albright, David Albright, Leona Manhart, Gallard and Regina Albright, Marilyn Montgomery, Jennifer Montgomery and Conner, Irmogene Goodwin, Cathy Holub, Steven, Rosie, and Amber, Iva Schlatter, and Dave and Karon Neff.

George Deines descendants attending were Stanley and Jeanetta Farr, Randy and Brenda Hague, Bobie Hague, Arden Weeks, Vera Deines, Howard and Lorinda Battishill and Mitchell, Derek, and Jill Deines and Raychel, Arlene Hubnik, Bill Hubnik, and Hope Riffel.

There were no descendents from the Mary (Deines) Mohn or Adolph Deines families.

The next reunion will be the first Sunday in October 2009 at Lincolnville Community Building.

Kylee Lynn Goering

Jeff (J.W.) and Jaime Goering of Wichita announce the birth of a daughter, Kylee Lynn, born Oct. 8, 2008, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

She weighed 7 pounds 14 ounces and was 20 inches long.

Grandparents are Bernie and Marcia St. Louis of Topeka and Jeff and Letha Goering of Marion.

Great-grandmothers are Lorene Whitcomb of Marquette and Norma Jean Goering of Marion.

Club members hear about Flint Hills

A program was presented to PEO members Oct. 6 about the history and preservation of the Flint Hills.

Mike Hamlin, director of Chase County Extension Service, presented the program to 20 members and two guests at the salad luncheon at Marion Presbyterian Church.

Jean Case, Diane Leiker, and Mary Alice Jolley were hostesses.

The next PEO meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday at the home of Laura Williams.

June and Lois Jost, 1938

June Josts celebrate 70th anniversary

June and Lois Jost of Marion will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

June Jost and Lois Scharenburg were married Oct. 28, 1938, at Youngtown.

For 13 years, June served as Marion County Sheriff. Lois was a housewife and often assisted her husband as a dispatcher.

The reception will be hosted by their four children, Gaila Falls of Hot Springs, Ark., Donna Ames of Derby, Dean Jost of Minneapolis, and Rita Janzen of Sedgwick, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
