Joyce Evelyn Patterson was born Aug. 20, 1929, and died April 20. She was a resident of Marion for 20 years before rejoining her family in her home-state of California.

Beloved wife of the late Billy Max “Pat” Patterson, her life was a celebration of adventure. She raised three children, became one of the first female pilots in Contra Costa County, Calif., and picnicked with headhunters in the Sumatran rainforest. Among her loves were traveling with Pat to every corner of the U.S. and hosting dinner parties for their many friends.

Loving mother of Kathyrn Joyce, Michal Robin and husband Steven, and the late Martin Randall and wife Linda. Loving sister of Frances Higgins. Grandmother of Rene Wiley and husband Steven, Cynthia Swafford and husband Jeffrey, Patrick Olson, and Richard Patterson and wife Katie. Great-grandmother of Danielle and Samantha Swafford; Carly, Joshua, and Michael Olson; Brett Patterson; and Norah Wiley.
