Finishing one place better than her previous year at the state track meet, Theo Kassebaum placed seventh Saturday in the 1A girls 100-meter hurdles.
She qualified for the finals by placing second in her heat with a time of 16.25 seconds, the fourth fastest overall. It was a personal record.
With her seventh-place finish in the finals at a time of 16.89, Kassebaum is the first CHS female to medal at state since 2004, when Laura Klenda medaled in the javelin.
“Theo had a great season in the 100-meter hurdles, medaling in all 10 meets in which she competed and taking first place six out of the 10 times,” coach Alan Stahlecker said. “We look forward to even better things for her as she returns for her senior season next year.”
