High school senior Nellie Kassebaum was the only competitor from Centre Saturday at the state 1A cross-country meet at Wamego.

She finished 55th with a time of 19 minutes and 49 seconds.

“Nellie worked hard this season and deserved to compete at state,” coach Cindy Riedel said. “She had a good run and met the goals she set for herself. It was a privilege to coach her and a very fitting end to her high school running career.”
