Kassebaum, Shields win two events Tuesday

The Centre High School track teams finished second and third at their home track meet Tuesday in Marion.

The Centre girls finished second.

Theo Kassebaum won the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 1.5 inches, the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17 seconds, and placed second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 56.3.

Cacey Simons won the high jump with a leap of 4-9. Teammates Ellie Miller finished second, 4-8, and Genesis Rudolph finished third, 4-2. Simons also placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.2 and was third in the 200, 31.0. Rudolph also finished third in the 100, 14.4.

The boys team finished third.

Cole Svoboda won the long jump with a leap of 18-2 and placed third in the javelin, 126-0, and 400, 57.8. Casey Kristek finished third in the 300 hurdles with a time of 48.4 and also placed third in the 100 hurdles, 17.1

Marion

Many Marion athletes had the night off after competing Monday, but both Warrior teams finished fourth Tuesday.

Thrower Corey Shields won the discus with a throw of 89-4 and shot put, 29-6.75.

Alex Young finished third for the girls team in the javelin, 77-10.

Jacob Cope placed second in the 1600 with a time of 5:32 and third in the 800 with a time of 2:33.3.

John Nordquist finished second in the javelin with a throw of 126-4.
