Kevin Hamm

Kevin Dale Hamm, 50, of Austin, Texas, passed away early morning July 20, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Kevin was witty and loved making others laugh, forming friendships everywhere he went.

He was an avid traveler — always driving — the past few years in his RV, also sightseeing nature and camping often, mostly at specific spots high up on Pikes Peak.

His daily routine included watching the sun come up at the Garden of the Gods. Kevin worked in roofing and operating annual fireworks tents nearly every year of his adult life, this year doing both the New Year and Independence Day, his favorite.

He is survived by his children, Eric Dale, Levi Tanner, and James Arthur Hamm; his mother, Ellen (Goddard) and Vernon Hein Sr.; and an aunt, Shirley House, all of Roseburg, Ore. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Hamm of Austin, Texas; a sister, Debra Hamm and nephew, Braden Hamm of Albuquerque, N.M.; uncles Clayton (Wanda), Garry (Pam) Hamm of Marion, Larry (Ruth) Hamm of Hillsboro, and James (Belita) of Goddard; numerous cousins, mostly in the Florence and Marion areas; and numerous friends, many in the Colorado Springs area, who were like family to him.

Kevin was preceded in death by his beloved father, Dale Arthur Hamm; grandparents, Arthur and Erlean Hamm and Otto and Irene Goddard; aunts Mary Steele and Marjorie Bransen; an uncle Howard Goddard; and a stepbrother, Vernon Hein Jr.

There will be a small, family service where his uncles will bury Kevin’s ashes in Marion and his closest friends in Colorado Springs will go to Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods.

Those unable to attend the services are celebrating Kevin’s life where they are living. Rest in peace, brother. I know your kind and gentle spirit is in Heaven (back from whence it came).
