KHP urges caution on roads during harvest
As county farmers harvest crops, drivers should take caution around farm equipment, Kansas Highway Patrol said.
A release cited 94 crashes involving farm equipment in 2014. Those resulted in 41 injuries and three deaths.
“In Kansas, we have many trucks exiting and entering the roadways at any given time,” KHP information officer Adam Winters said. “Traveling around these vehicles requires added precautions.”
Farm vehicles don’t travel at highway speeds and are wider than normal vehicles.
KHP recommended drivers be patient and cautious, especially when passing.
