Kiwanis receives belated award

Marion Kiwanis recently received a Distinguished Club Award from Kiwanis International for the 2011-12 club year. At a meeting Tuesday, club member Al Ash presented the award which had been sent to him.

Club members signed a get-well card for Jim Crofoot, who is recovering from back surgery.

Coach Roger Schroeder gave a presentation about the past baseball season at Marion High School. The team advanced to the state tournament for the second time in school history and compiled a 16-6 record.

The 2014 season will begin with practice Feb. 26, and the team should have a lot of experienced players returning.

“We fully expect to be back in Manhattan,” Schroeder said.
