Kjellin to direct Butler campus
Amy Kjellin of rural Marion is the new director of Butler Community College’s Marion and Council Grove campuses.
Kjellin took over July 12 for retiring director Pauline Holub. She previously worked at Hutchinson Community College’s McPherson campus and Tabor College in Hillsboro.
“I like working with nontraditional students,” Kjellin said.
She has a master’s degree in counseling from Friends University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wichita State University.
“I would like to increase our presence in the high schools,” Kjellin said.
Butler Community College offers classes for college credit at Marion, Hillsboro, Peabody-Burns, and Centre high schools. She also wants communities to see the college as a resource, she said.
The college will have an open house 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Marion campus, 412 N. Second St.
Kjellin is married to Doug Kjellin. They have three children: Erik, Andrew, and Adam.
