KU to honor county scholars

Fifteen county high school seniors will be recognized as Kansas Honor Scholars at a banquet Sept. 21 at Holiday Manor Center in McPherson.

University of Kansas Alumni Association and KU Endowment sponsor the event, which recognizes students in the top 10 percent of their high school senior classes.

Students to be honored include Brendon Bina and Dylan Deines of Centre High School; Olivia Duerkson and Jennifer Meysing of Goessel High School; Rebecca Kaufman, Callie Linnens, and Kyle Unruh of Hillsboro High School; Aidan Cairns, Shelby Felvus, Cade Harms, Paige May, and Taylor May of Marion High School; and Samantha Frye, Mallory Harris, and Anna Lubbers of Peabody-Burns High School.

Parents and KU alumni also are welcome to attend at a cost of $15 each.

Jim Christensen and Martin Tice, both of Marion, are volunteer county coordinators for the event.
