Lady Cougars fall to Wolves

In a non-league girls game Friday on the road, Lebo defeated Centre, 68-41.

Carlye Simons had the most success at the net, scoring 15 points, including two 3-pointers in the second quarter. Other leading scorers were Allison Shields, 7; DJ Turner, 6; Shelby Deines, 5; and Samantha Seifert, 4.

Lebo had one player who was unstoppable and scored 34 points in three quarters.

The Lady Cougars trailed 17-12 after one quarter and never caught up. The third quarter was especially deadly as Lebo scored 32 points compared with 10 by Centre, contributing to the Lady Cougars’ 27-point loss.

The junior varsity was defeated, 46-22. Scorers were Ellie Miller, 8; Theo Kassebaum, 6; Beka Basore, 4; and Katie Remy and Amanda Floyd, 2 each.

Centre vs. Solomon

Playing Solomon Feb. 2 at home, the Lady Cougars trailed 14-9 after one quarter and got within 4 points before halftime, but they were defeated, 47-39.

Shields had a good first quarter, making three field goals. She added one each in the following three quarters for 12 points, to lead scoring.

Simons scored all of her 11 points in the second half. Other scorers were Turner, 6, in two 3-point field goals; Deines, 5; Ripley Howard, 3; and Miller, 2.

The junior varsity lost by 2 points, 30-28. Genesis Rudolph scored 10 points, followed by Basore, 8; Miller and Kassebaum, 4 each; and Carrie Carlson, 2.
