The Centre High School volleyball team, in its first outing of the 2011 season, had a difficult time scoring against teams from Canton Galva and Inman.
The triangular was played Aug. 30 at Canton Galva.
Centre was defeated by Canton Galva in two games, 25-16 and 25-15. The team completed 13-of-16 and 12-of-15 serve attempts, respectively. They scored 7 rally points in each game.
Genesis Rudolph was the leading scorer, serving for a total of 6 points. Ellie Miller served for 4 points, Brianna Svoboda 3, and Cacey Simons, Carrie Carlson, and Anna Weber, 1 each.
Miller provided two aces, and Rudolph and Simons had one each.
The team came back stronger against Inman but was defeated, 25-12 and 25-20. They completed 11-of-13 and 20-of-20 serve attempts, respectively. They scored 8 rally points in the first game and 12 in the second.
Rudolph again was leading server with 6 points in the second game. Other scorers were Simons, 3; Weber, 2; and Svoboda, 1. Rudolph provided an ace.
The junior varsity lost to Canton Galva 25-20 and 25-12. Brenna Shields led scoring, serving for 6 points. Other scorers were Shelby Makovec, 3; Carlson and Kailyn Riffel, 2 each; and Beka Basore, Tabitha Oborny, Makenzie Deines, Addie Love, and Callie Riffel, 1 each.
The results were split in games against Inman. Inman defeated the junior varsity 25-16 in the first game, and Centre defeated Inman in a shortened second game, 20-18. Shields served for 8 points, Carlson 5, Deines 3, and Basore 2.
Centre played at Goessel Tuesday.
