CENTRE:   Lady Cougars win 1, lose 1

In a triangular Sept. 21 at Centre High School, the Lady Cougars defeated Wakefield in two hard-won games, 25-22 and 25-21. They lost to Peabody in three games, 25-21, 25-27, and 16-25.

Cacey Simons was the leading scorer against Wakefield with 11 points, followed by Genesis Rudolph with 10.

Allison Shields was seven- of-seven in spike attempts and delivered four kills. Anna Weber was six-of-eight. Weber and Bryanna Svoboda each had one block.

Peabody

Amanda Floyd garnered 16 points in the match with Peabody. Tori Marler set 36 of 38 balls.

Shields was prolific at the net, completing 20 of 22 spike attempts including seven kills. Simons completed 12 of 14 including five kills. Ellie Miller was a perfect eight-of-eight, three for kills.

Weber and Miller provided three blocks each, Simons two, and Theo Kassebaum one.

The junior varsity lost to Peabody, 21-15 and 12-24. Beka Basore led scoring for the match with 4 points. The team defeated Wakefield, 25-12 and 25-11. Theo Kassebaum led scoring with 10 points, followed by Cassandra Dones with 9.

Centre had another home triangular Tuesday.

Herington Invitational

At the Herington Invitational Saturday, the Lady Cougars failed to advance out of pool play.

They played three matches, defeating White City, 25-11 and 25-18, and losing to Council Grove, 20-25 and 17-25, and Sacred Heart, 9-25 and 20-25.

Centre’s record stood at 7-13 after Saturday’s meet. Centre hosted a triangular Tuesday.
