LETTERS:   Lake was not intended as housing complex

To the editor:

Some have concerns about how the building of cabins will affect the Marion County Lake’s historical designation.

Marion County Lake was not built to become a residential area with large homes. For many years, the charm of our county lake was small cabins on a fishing lake. How many of those cabins have disappeared in the past decade?

Oversized homes crowded into undersized lots don’t preserve the historical integrity of the area. Cabins reflect the history of the lake. They could bring the area back to its intended use. I believe that it’s time for the Marion County Commissioners to look at new planning and zoning regulations for the lake area concerning the building of large homes.
