Late 3-pointer carries MHS JV on Friday

Marion junior varsity girls posted another win Friday, defeating Ell-Saline 31-30.

Marion led most of the game until middle of the fourth quarter when Ell-Saline took a 3-point advantage. With just over a minute left in the game freshman Courtney Herzet ran the floor and made a layup and was fouled. She then tied the game by making the free throw.

On the following possession, point-guard Corin Parmley dribbled down the court and made an uncontested 3-point shot, giving Marion the lead.

Jesse Lewman stole the ball on the next Ell-Saline possession. Later the ball was stolen back by Ell-Saline with a foul called against Marion. Ell-Saline made both free throws. With time running out Ell-Saline fouled Marissa Jacobson with less than a second left on the clock. Jacobson missed the free throw and Marion escaped with a one-point victory.

Leading the scoring for Marion was Parmley with 6 points, followed by Sam Richmond with 5, and McKenzee Remmers and Marshelle Mermis with 4 each.
