Lee Rempel

Retired Peabody farmer Lee E. Rempel, 87, died Sunday.

He was born May 16, 1927, to Ernest and Emma (Ewert) Rempel in Denver.

He attended schools in the Peabody area and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Arlene Joan Goentzel on Sept. 28, 1951, in Peabody. They were married for 57 years until her death in 2008.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Peabody United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his two children, Joleen Lyons of Newton and David Rempel of Peabody, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister Esther McIntosh.

Services were today at Peabody United Methodist Church. A private burial was held prior to the service.

Memorials have been set up for the Peabody United Methodist Church and Peabody Senior Center.
